Mouth of RainMouth of Rain is a Black Lesbian Collective centered on giving breath and life to the experiences of everyday Black Lesbians in Philadelphia. Our mission is to challenge the erasure of Black Lesbian political, and social life by providing programmatic, artistic, and material support to all Black Lesbians.
Project Summary:We cultivate a monthly Black Lesbian Listening Room in which we partner with local DJs to bring a social sonic experience to life.
SOOK Vinyl SOOK Vinyl is a Black owned record shop located in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia.
Project Summary:We co-create a monthly playlist of music that is accessible through Spotify. These playlists hones on Black and Brown soundscapes from various artists across the diaspora.
Unseen Archive Unseen Archive is a Film Salon between Asha Salim and Soul Fly Club.
Project Summary:
Cinema has always known what to do with the Black female body. It placed her at the center of desire and outside the frame of history. This salon traces that gaze across four decades of film from Donyale Luna to Zeudi Araya to Ines Pellegrini — and the ways Black women moved through, against, and beyond the frame placed around them.
Corinne World Wide Started by Corinne B-Williams. Corinne World Wide is a visual storytelling space rooted in BIPOC + queer communities. Corinne World Wide documents being, belonging + becoming.
Project Summary:We curate a monthly documentary film screening series highlighting Black and queer creative experiences. Some films we have show are: Mr.Soul, In The Absence of Light, Summer of Soul, and many more.
